RPG rules are like bicycles. At the start, when you’re learning to cycle, you have to concentrate on keeping your balance, pedal, managing the gears. Later on you’ll be able to enjoy the landscape, only occasionally needing to burden yourself with cycling details, like when planning a ride or when the derailleur does that funny noise. Good bicycles take you to farther places faster. But there are very nice places that are only reachable by car, train, plane, or by walking, climbing or spelunking. And trying to reach them with a bicycle can be much harder.
