Thanks to Luke Wayland, I realize that Apocalypse World 2nd edition playbook preview officialy allows to use Seduce/Manipulate to lie or bluff. As I previously vigorously fighted against this interpretation of the move (I can explain), this changes things a bit for me. Anyway, does this mean that you can force another PC to believe in a lie as a side effect?

  1. You don't force another PC, they choose to "go along with you" for an XP or refuse for a loss of stat higlight.

  2. Yep, but if they go along, do they believe?

  3. they choose to believe if they go along. That's my interpretation.

  4. My take is AW rules' only concern is behavior. What's happening inside a character's head is their player's prerogative. So hitting the roll will make an NPC go along what the PC is saying, but wether the NPC replay believes the PC or not is up to the MC.

Now the MC's decision about that would be informed by principles, always says and such. A player whose character is lied to would just have to follow the "play your character like a real person" clause, ie. it's up to you, but your fellow players might bitch about it if you're clearly stretching it. The whole "mark so, lose a notch" is only if you go along or not, not if you truly really believe or not.
